Consider this another vote for continuing the current plan for a full signal at this intersection. I'm a home owner in the Meadow park neighborhood on Corrida and my kids and I have used that crosswalk for the last 5 years and will continue to do so indefitely as we go to Hawthorne elementary school and use this crossroads to go downtown by bike. I appreciate that the current flasher system at this intersection has helped somewhat over having nothing, but the cars ignore it too often for my comfort. Especially if it's not normal school hours. Just this week I was on an ebike with my 5 year old son, pulled up, pushed the button. I counted 5 cars that drove through even though the flashers were on. I get that the first car maybe couldn't have stopped fast enough, but all subsequent cars were making a choice to ignore it. I find myself starting to walk or inch out into the intersection even though it feels unsafe because that's the only way the cars acknowledge me. I'm not sure how to teach my kids how to navigate this intersection safely without me. I love living in a walkable, bikable neighborhood and want my kids to be able to walk or bike to school on their own and feel independence and autonomy but this intersection is a huge hurdle. I want to add some comments too on the Woodbridge push button signal in case it's being used as a template of sorts. It has an extra long delay from the time you press the button until the walk signal changes telling you to walk. I assume it's to allow cars enough time to stop. As a pedestrian and cyclist who uses this, it often doesn't flow well. I always want to walk or go well before the light tells me to go. And I'm often across much quicker than the signal. I assume you are using some recommended standards but perhaps the flow to the signals can be tested and adjusted based on actual flow once they are installled so they feel less disruptive and chaotic in action. This light feels like a bit overkill sometimes, although I'll take the overkill with safety over potential accidents so I understand the challenge here.
