Pillar II: Equitable Communication &
Accessibility
Purpose: To celebrate access and belonging efforts and create
a recognizable symbol of shared commitment to both.
•Visibly signals where access, belonging, equity, inclusion,
etc. is intentionally integrated.
•Used in City materials, programs, events, and initiatives.
•Provided to partners like nonprofits, grant recipients, and
local businesses.
•Available to use in physical spaces as well to promote a
welcoming and inclusive environment.

Pillar III: Embedded Accountability &
Sustainable Change
DEI Employee CommitteeTACTIC 3.1.1
•In June 2025, the DEI Employee Committee Charter was
finalized and approved by City Leadership Team
•The Charter provides a clear framework for the
Committee’s purpose, membership, responsibilities, and
meeting structure.
•Staff developed the Committee’s first annual work plan
and launched subcommittees to advance priority projects
and support employee engagement efforts.

Sustainable Change
The toolkit is meant to:
•Be a resource to foster inclusion and denounce hate in all its forms
•Support individuals and groups across San Luis Obispo
It includes:
•A brief history of discrimination and exclusion in San Luis Obispo,
along with its resilience, cultural contributions, and community
building
•Practical tools and information to help recognize, respond, and
prevent acts of hate or bias
