Hosted by the City of San Luis Obispo in partnership with the Downtown SLO Farmer’s Market TACTIC 2.2.3 8 Pillar II: Equitable Communication & Accessibility Purpose: To celebrate access and belonging efforts and create a recognizable symbol of shared commitment to both. •Visibly signals where access, belonging, equity, inclusion, etc. is intentionally integrated. •Used in City materials, programs, events, and initiatives. •Provided to partners like nonprofits, grant recipients, and local businesses. •Available to use in physical spaces as well to promote a welcoming and inclusive environment. Access and Belonging IconTACTIC 2.2.6 9 Pillar III: Embedded Accountability & Sustainable Change DEI Employee CommitteeTACTIC 3.1.1 •In June 2025, the DEI Employee Committee Charter was finalized and approved by City Leadership Team •The Charter provides a clear framework for the Committee’s purpose, membership, responsibilities, and meeting structure. •Staff developed the Committee’s first annual work plan and launched subcommittees to advance priority projects and support employee engagement efforts. 10 Pillar III: Embedded Accountability & Sustainable Change The toolkit is meant to: •Be a resource to foster inclusion and denounce hate in all its forms •Support individuals and groups across San Luis Obispo It includes: •A brief history of discrimination and exclusion in San Luis Obispo, along with its resilience, cultural contributions, and community building •Practical tools and information to help recognize, respond, and prevent acts of hate or bias Responding to Hate and Bias ToolkitTACTIC 3.2.4 11 Pillar IV: Inclusive Organizational Culture & Structure •The Responsibility of Privilege •Addressing Bias to Build Belonging •Acknowledging and Addressing Microaggressions •Understanding Identity and Perspective •Building Trust Through Community Engagement Building a Culturally Fluent Workforce Workshops TACTICS 4.1.1 & 4.2.3 12 Pillar IV: Inclusive Organizational Culture & Structure Updated Employee SharePoint Page TACTIC 4.1.2 Updated to highlight the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the DEI Committee, while adding resources that encourage ongoing learning, awareness, and engagement. 13 Building on Our Momentum Upcoming Priorities and Initiatives Launch “How to” Guide Host Minority and Women Owned Business Listening Sessions Develop the remaining Culturally Fluent Workforce Workshops Citywide Single Vote Outreach and Engagement Roll-out Access and Belonging Icon Implement Language Toolkit for Staff Launch Responding to Hate and Bias Community Toolkit 15 Recommendation Receive and file the annual update on the implementation status of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Strategic Plan.
