SUBJECT: Final passage of Ordinance No. 1270 (1994 series), SLO
Municipal Code Section 12.20.115, regulating consumption of
alcohol in city parks
CAO RECOMMENDATION
Grant final passage to Ordinance No. 1270 (1994 series), SLO Municipal Code Section
12.20.115, regulating consumption of alcohol in city parks.
DISCUSSION
On Tuesday, August 16, 1994, the City Council voted 5 to 0 to amend
Ordinance No. 1270 (1994 Series), SLO Municipal Code Section 12.20.115, to print
which regulates the consumption of alcohol in city parks. Ordinance No. 1270 (1994
series), Municipal Code Section 12.20.115 is now ready for final passage and will
become effective thirty.days after the date of its final passage.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO
AMENDING MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 12.20.115
REGULATING CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL IN CITY PARKS
Whereas, the consumption of alcohol is currently regulated by Municipal
Code Section 12.20.115; and
Whereas, the ordinance lists the specific parks at which alcohol is
prohibited; and
Whereas, new parks have been and will continue to be added; and
Whereas, the proposed amended ordinance will avoid the necessity to
amend the ordinance each time new parks are added;
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo as
follows:
Section 1: Municipal Section 12.20.1 15 is hereby amended in its
entirety, to read as follows:
12.20.115 Consumption of alcohol unlawful.
It shall be unlawful for any person to consume any alcoholic beverage in
any city park or park area except:
A. During an activity conducted pursuant to an approved park
reservation or a formal park permit as specified in Section 12.20.115;
B. During an authorized special event provided that consumption of
alcohol is an approved condition for the special event.
Consumption of alcoholic beverages as described above, shall be limited
to the areas, times and places specified in the park reservation/permit or in the
approved conditions for the special event.

Section 2. This ordinance, together with the names of council members
voting for and against, shall be published once in full, at least (3) days prior to its
final passage, in the Telegram-Tribune, a newspaper published and circulated in this
city. This ordinance shall go into effect at the expiration of thirty (30) days after its
final passage.
INTRODUCED AND PASSED TO PRINT by the Council of the City of San
Luis Obispo at its meeting held on the 16th day of August , 1994, on motion of
Council Member Rappa , seconded by Council Member Romero, and on the following
roll call vote:
AYES: Council Members Rappa, Romero, Roalman,--.Vice 'Mayor Settle, and Mayor Pinard
