Gallagher to the Cultural Heritage Committee (CHC) to fill an unexpired term ending on March 31, 1996. BACKGROUND: On Wednesday, November 23, 1994, Council Members Romero and Rappa, and Chair Dan Krieger interviewed two applicants for the Cultural Heritage Committee. It is..their recommendation that Astrid J. Gallagher be appointed to fill the current vacancy. The Council Subcommittee also recommends that the second applicant, Geoff Bradley, be appointed if and when a future vacancy occurs. I The Subcommittee and Chair would also like to thank outgoing committee member James Danaher for his service. Since 1985 I have spent 3 months per year on business in San Luis Obispo. I live here full time since October, 1993. My long term interest and delight in history, and particularly the History of the American West, stems from courses taken at Scripps College, from my own collection of Western Literature, and from extensive traveling in the Western United States. In this capacity I am familiar with many aspects of historic preservation: financing, Historic Building Code, materials and construction techniques. A have done the research for three of our historic residences in the Railroad Historic District, and am thoroughly familiar with the resources available in this community for such research. I completed the application for the National Register of Historic Places for the Tribune-Republic building, which was placed on the National Register in 1993. I am currently completing the application for the National Register of Historic Places for the Carnegie Library-County Museum building. Gallagher Properties received the Obispo Beautiful award in 1990 for our Edward Bushnell House, and in 1992 for the Tribune-Republic building. I am particularly interested in preserving our two Historic Districts,the Old Town Historic District, and the Railroad Historic District by their placement on the National Register of Historic Districts. In view of the State of CA mandate to upgrade all public buildings,.I am also interested in assisting business property owners with the preparation of National Register applications.
