Subject:610 Monterey Pre-Application
Richard,
Thank you for meeting with us earlier today. The City Arborist is requiring the following for the applicant
regarding the proposed project at 610 Monterey Street.
The applicant shall:
1) Coordinate the location of all new utilities on the site, grading, utility, and landscape plans as
applicable. Verify that the new underground utilities will not be in conflict with new or existing
trees.
2) Delineate all trees within the property 3” or greater for removal or retention. Include the diameter and
correct tree species. Identify all off-site trees with tree canopies or roots located within the area of
grading or construction. Tree canopies should generally be shown to scale for reference. Tree
removals may require approval by the City Arborist. Contact the City Arborist at 781-7220 to review
any proposal for tree removals and to initiate an application for a tree removal permit if
applicable. Show all existing and proposed street trees.
3) Provide a Certified Arborist report to the City Arborist for the Coast Live Oak/Quercus agrifolia tree
(front yard) and Redwood/Sequoia sempervirens tree (back yard) prior (two week minimum) to the
permit issuance and/or any excavation/construction/demolition. Include corrective or maintenance
pruning recommendations and tree protection measures for both trees. All tree pruning within
property shall be completed by an ISA Certified Arborist.
4) Employ an ISA Certified Arborist/Project Arborist to oversee tree protection measures for all trees
delineated for retention throughout project duration, specifically during excavation, demolition, tree
pruning and tree removal(s).
5) Tree protection measures shall be implemented to the satisfaction of the City Arborist. The City
Arborist shall review and approve the proposed tree protection measures to be incorporated into the
building plans. Contact the City Arborist, Ron Combs at (805) 781-7220 to schedule a site
visit. Tentative plans shall be provided to the arborist for review either prior to or at the time of the
field

investigation.
Please let me know if you require any additional information from our office.
Thanks,
Misty Celaya
