RE: Abandonedment/Closure-In-Place of an Underground Storage Tank
Insufficient Documentation
Background:
Earlier this year, the RWQCB contacted this office and requested information on any and all businesses
within the City limits that are using perchloroethylenes as part of their operations, Paul's Dry Cleaners
was one. At that time the Board was initiating a investigation effort into the groundwater
contamination at the Dalidio wells. Later conversations with Board members indicated that this site
was a potential point source.
In 1987, Randy Miller authorized the abandonment and closure -in -place of a 38 year old 1,000 gallon
underground storage tank used to contain a dry cleaning solvent. According to our records, the tank
was filled with slurry mixture, however, there is no indication that the subsurface soils/groundwater was
ever investigated.
