1. CALL TO ORDER
A Regular Meeting of the San Luis Obispo Architectural Review Commission was
called to order on April 20, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City
Hall, 990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo, by Chair Mayou.

3.a CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES - JANUARY 12, 2026 ARCHITECTURAL
REVIEW COMMISSION MINUTES
Motion By Commissioner Arens
Second By Vice Chair Carrion
To approve the Architectural Review Commission Minutes of January 12,
2026.
Ayes (5): Commissioner Arens, Commissioner Atkins, Commissioner Bell,
Vice Chair Carrion, and Chair Mayou
Absent (2): Commissioner Abbas and Commissioner Gerencser

4. PUBLIC HEARINGS
4.a REVIEW OF TWO (2) SINGLE-FAMILY RESIDENCES AND
ASSOCIATED SITE IMPROVEMENTS FOR A TENTATIVE PARCEL MAP
(TWO-PARCEL FLEXIBLE LOT DESIGN SUBDIVISION), A FENCE
HEIGHT EXCEPTION, AND A REQUEST TO REMOVE FIVE (5) TREES
Commissioner Abbas arrived at 5:03 p.m.
Ethan Estrada, Assistant Planner presented the staff report and
responded to Commission inquiries.
Applicant Brandon Taitz responded to questions raised.
Chair Mayou opened the Public Hearing

Motion By Commissioner Bell
Second By Commissioner Arens
Recommend the Community Development Director approve the project
based on its consistency with applicable goals, policies and guidelines in
the Community Design Guidelines and applicable City Standards with the
following recommendations:
That the proposed northern and western exterior façades of the two
residences be revised to include more articulation by providing
push and/or pull to the flat wall planes [utilizing provisions in the
Zoning Regulations if applicable] and provide consistent
architectural elements on all four-sides of each structure.
Ayes (6): Commissioner Abbas, Commissioner Arens, Commissioner
Atkins, Commissioner Bell, Vice Chair Carrion, and Chair Mayou
Absent (1): Commissioner Gerencser

5.a STAFF UPDATES AND AGENDA FORECAST
Principal Planner Rachel Cohen informed the Commissioners that there
are no immediate items on the agenda forecast.
6. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 5:28 p.m. The next Regular Meeting of the
Architectural Review Commission is scheduled for May 4, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. in
the Council Chambers at City Hall, 990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo.
