It's been a minute since we spoke in your office, just wanted to give you an update. We are nearly at the contract sign phase with our two co-packers. We've had some back and forth with product formulation this month and last month, just trying to get their output to taste right. Once those contracts are signed we can begin the process of transitioning our manufacture over to them, although that transition will take a bit of time. We never heard back from your office on timeline so we're going to continue to move as quickly as we can without putting the business in major jeopardy. We're close though. Let me know if you need anything from me. Please be sure to keep me updated through out the process and if there is any way that I can help. I spoke with the Deputy Building Official earlier this week about the space. He is not opposed to conducting a meeting and evaluation but he believes it would be more beneficial to do so after plans are submitted and reviewed. Of course, it may not be necessary. 5 Regards, Nick Buckley Code Enforcement Officer Community Development 919 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401-3218 E nbuckley@slocity.org T 805.783.7872 slocity.org Stay connected with the City by signing up for e-notifications From: Jake Pritzlaff <jake@whalebirdkombucha.com> Sent: Thursday, November 10, 2022 3:42 PM To: Buckley, Nick <nbuckley@slocity.org> Subject: Re: Whalebird Kombucha Hi Nick, I just wanted to give you an update that we're getting quotes built out from a few architecture firms in town and have learned a lot in the process. Right now we're working with Omni Design, SSB, and Ashley & Vance. A design professional should be able to conduct an evaluation of the premises with the proper history of the space and produce plans with structural calculations. It is important to remember that all modifications to the space since the late 1980’s were not permitted as I have no permits on file post 1989. 6 Sincerely, Nick Buckley Code Enforcement Officer Community Development 919 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401-3218 E nbuckley@slocity.org T 805.783.7872 slocity.org Stay connected with the City by signing up for e-notifications From: Jake Pritzlaff <jake@whalebirdkombucha.com> Sent: Monday, October 24, 2022 12:43 PM To: Buckley, Nick <nbuckley@slocity.org> Subject: Re: Whalebird Kombucha Hi Nick, Thanks for your help. Would a general contractor be the type of person to speak to or do we need some kind of actual engineering firm? In the meantime, I recommend that you find a design professional that can help you develop building plans. If we do schedule a meeting, I think it would be very helpful to have your design professional present. You had mentioned we could have a sit down with your team and chat about what we need to do and how we could go about it, would that be possible? Thanks in advance for your help.
