Hello,
I’ve lived off Grand Ave on McCollum St since 1995. I have multiple concerns and ideas for the Grand Ave
update.
#1 Most importantly there needs to be speed bumps coming down the hill from campus towards the freeway.
People come flying down and now that it is one lane it makes it very difficult to turn left off McCollum to Grand
southbound.
#2 If there is going to be a bike lane the whole thing needs to be painted green, especially as you get off the
freeway at Grand.
#3 PLEASE put a traffic signal at the corner of campus at Grand and Slack. With the new Cal Poly housing
project that 4 way stop isn’t sufficient.
#4 Is it possible to make this road between the freeway and campus two lanes again? Maybe shifting the bike
lane smaller next to the curb and have the parking on the outside like on Higuera St south of Nipomo St.

On a side note if we are talking about street safety; we desperately need a crosswalk painted on the street at
the corner of Higuera and California near the high school. Even though pedestrians have the right of way at
this four corner intersection very few drivers yield. My friend and I have almost been hit multiple times.
