HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-03-2012 a1 council liaison subcommitteesc,ounat °- L Al AcjEnbA Repoin It - N -bA C I T Y OF SAN L U IS O B I S P O FROM: Mayor Jan Marx and Vice Mayor Dan Carpenter Prepared By: Elaina Cano, City Clerk SUBJECT: COUNCIL LIAISON SUBCOMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS 2012 RECOMMENDATION: Approve Council Liaison Subcommittee assignments for calendar year 2012 DISCUSSION Council Policies and Procedures and the Advisory Body Handbook prescribe the method of Council Liaison Subcommittee assignments: The Mayor and Vice Mayor shall submit recommendations to the full Council rotating nominations for Council Member Subcommittees, thereby ensuring an opportunity for each member to serve as liaison at least once on each advisory body when possible. When terms of office do not allow each member to serve once, members with greatest seniority shall have first right of selection (CP &P 6 S. 2, ABH III, C, 6). After receiving a list of preferences from all Council Members and reviewing the past several years' appointments, Mayor Marx and Vice Mayor Carpenter recommend the Council Liaison Subcommittee assignments as outlined in the attachment. As in past years, automatic rotation for all technical and regional committees is not being recommended. The recommended appointments allow for continuity where appropriate as well as permitting Council Members to develop a higher level of expertise for some of the more complex committees.
