CALL TO ORDER A Regular Meeting of the San Luis Obispo Architectural Review Commission was called to order on September 21 at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo, by Chair Mayou. 2. PUBLIC COMMENT FOR ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA Public Comment: None --End of Public Comment-- 3. CONSENT 3.a CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES - AUGUST 3, 2026 ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMISSION MINUTES Motion By Commissioner Gerencser Second By Vice Chair Carrion To approve the Architectural Review Commission Minutes of August 3, 2026. Ayes (6): Commissioner Abbas, Commissioner Arens, Commissioner Atkins, Commissioner Gerencser, Vice Chair Carrion, and Chair Mayou Absent (1): Commissioner Bell CARRIED (6 to 0) Page 5 of 53 2 4. PUBLIC HEARINGS 4.a PRADO ROAD INTERCHANGE PROJECT – ARCHITECTURAL AND AESTHETIC DESIGN REFINEMENTS Major City Projects Manager, Matt Horn presented the staff report and responded to Commission inquiries. Chair Mayou opened the Public Hearing Public Comments: None --End of Public Comment-- Chair Mayou closed the Public Hearing Recommend approval, as submitted, of the aesthetic design of the Prado Road Interchange, with the following modifications / direction:  Omit the proposed tower elements from the project design.  Incorporate the Seven Sisters design into the safety fencing only and not into either the interior or exterior part of the bridge railings. Consideration should be given to whether an additional texture element on the interior of the bridge rail is warranted to prevent vandalism in place of the Seven Sisters concrete stamping.  Ensure nighttime lighting appropriately illuminates the Seven Sisters design incorporated into the safety fencing.  Investigate modifications to the safety fence terminations to reduce the likelihood of climbing.  Verify that the proposed font for the “City of San Luis Obispo” lettering is consistent with the City’s logo / brand guidelines.
