Illu�ll�l�Illlp� Ilulll MEETING DAT cul II li►il lull city or .2 6 -san lues oBIspo COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT ITEM NUMB FROM: Council Members Bill Ro an and Kathy Smith Subcommittee to the Council Compensation Committee PREPARED BY: Sherry Stendahl, Council Secretary SUBJECT: Council Compensation Committee Appointment Recommendations RECOMMENDATION: By motion,appoint the following to the Council Compensation Committee,effective immediately, to'sunset upon adoption of a new Council Compensation Resolution: Pat Veesart Citizen-at-Large Diane Hull Citizen-at-Large Pierre Rademaker Citizen-at-Large Marcy Villa Personnel Board member Robert Griffin Former elected official DISCUSSION: This Committee is established by resolution every two (even-numbered) years. The five member committee should provide a broad representation, including one previously elected official, one Personnel Board member and one citizen-at-large. The Committee will review the full Council compensation package including salary, benefits, expense reimbursement, professional development allowances and any other compensation provided to the City Council. The review should include, but not be limited to: 1. Compensation of Council and Mayors of cities of similar population/budget size; 2. Compensation practices of both Charter and General Law cities; 3. Government Code provisions for General Law cities; 4. Council and Mayor responsibilities in San Luis Obispo at time of committee review; 5. Any structural changes that may have occurred in municipal government either as a result of State legislation or by actions of the local electorate which may have been added to, or deducted from, the duties and responsibilities of the Council Members and/or Mayor. The Committee is required to bring its proposed recommendations in resolution form to the Council within 90 days, or no later than April 1st (Res. 6587). All nominees have been contacted and agree to serve on this Committee. The Personnel Director will serve as staff to this Committee. '.L
