While total website sessions remained virtually flat at 74,319 (-1% YoY), bottom-funnel lodging referrals reached 4,795 (+28.4% YoY). This growth was driven by Paid Search and Organic Search channels, with Email delivering exceptionally high conversion YoY. Refined household income targeting ($125k+) drove a 41% YoY increase in paid media lodging referrals on a 22% budget increase, lowering the cost per referral by 14% to $6.16. Paid Search generated the largest volume of paid referrals (+47.6% YoY), while Paid Social and Display shifted toward narrower, more qualified audiences, yielding higher engagement rates (+40% to +85% YoY). Owned and earned channels reinforced overall referral performance and brand visibility. Organic Search served as a top referral channel while establishing strong search authority, including Visitslo.com securing citations in 64% of tracked Google AIO and ChatGPT prompts. Email marketing generated 50 lodging referrals from a single deployment with a 29.69% session conversion rate (+405% YoY). Public relations efforts Page 23 of 79 generated 34.7 million impressions through three key placements, headlined by a feature in Travel + Leisure syndicated to AOL and Yahoo News. Operational efforts focused on site optimization, including mobile layout updates and event data cleanup. Strategic priorities for the next period include preparing flexible search budgets for rainy-day conditions and aligning upcoming creative refreshes with restorative travel themes. Paid Social continues to function mainly as a top- and mid-funnel channel, as Meta users typically convert at lower rates than users on other established platforms. Given the reduced investment on Meta and the strategic shift toward higher-income households, this change in performance is in line with expectations and with broader industry trends. We also believe this shift has contributed to the strong performance on Google, as more high-intent traffic is now reaching the site. Lodging referrals from paid media grew 41% YoY on a 22% increase in paid investment, and the cost to drive each referral fell 14%. Quality over quantity is working. Total paid sessions dipped as targeting shifted toward $125k+ households, but engagement rose sharply. Display, Video, and Paid Social traffic engaged 40-85% more YoY and Paid Search held a 70% engagement rate while scaling. Paid Search CTR eased to 8.1% while impressions grew 80% reflecting expanded reach into new searches rather than weaker ads. Cost per lodging referral improved from $6.56 to $6.16 and decreased CPCs with added budget. Paid Social is building awareness with a more engaged audience. While volume dipped (-19% sessions) as the HHI threshold narrowed the audience, engagement rate rose 41% YoY and time on site nearly doubled. Display, Demand Gen, and PMAX drove steady clicks while our CPMs rose with premium HHI targeting. Despite the increase, we held steady lodging referral volume (-3.5% YoY). Engagement rate also witnessed an increase (+43% YoY) proving the traffic is more engaged. Video impressions nearly tripled while CPMs fell about 32%. This is a huge efficiency gain for our reach. Lodging referrals grew from 5 to 32 YoY, while a smaller referral contributor, video is beginning to contribute to bookings directly. Next steps/forward thinking: Prepare rainy-day creative and flexible budget so we can lean into Search and indoor experiences when storms hit. While planning for our next creative refresh, trends pointing more toward restorative, laid-back-luxury themes are also going to be top of mind. 3 Page 25 of 79 Owned Channel Snapshot SEO + Content ● Organic Search Sessions: 13,277 (-12% YoY) ● Organic Search Partner Referrals: 2,662 (-3% YoY) ● Organic Search Impressions: 1.3 Mil (-12% YoY) ● Organic Search Clicks: 8,356 (-23% YoY) ● Organic Search CTR: 0.63% (-13% YoY) ● Sessions from LLMs (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc): 305 (+92% YoY) ● Partner Referrals from LLMs (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc): 42 (+24% YoY) ● Top Impression Gains: san luis obispo, slo, cal poly, madonna inn, wetzel pretzel, san luis obispo hotels, san luis obispo weather ● Top Click Losses: things to do in san luis obispo, sunset drive in, san luis obispo movie theater, san luis obispo hotels, concerts in the plaza slo AI Brand Presence & Visibility ● Generative AI impressions (launched in September 2026): 170K impressions ○ Top pages shown in AIO or AI Mode: Homepage, Things to Do, SLO Downtown, Cal Poly SLO, About the City of San Luis Obispo ● AI Total Ranking Analysis: ○ Visitslo.com is the top-cited domain across 50 tracked prompts on Google AIO and ChatGPT, securing 64% total citations and a 9% share of mentions. This free, twelve-week concert series transforms Mission Plaza into a concert venue every Friday. In celebration of the series’ 30th anniversary, Downtown SLO elected to host two “block party” events on July 3, 2026 and August 14, 2026 with a larger footprint, entertainment options, and additional vendors. In partnership with Visit San Luis Obispo and the City of SLO, July 3rd became a “Festival Expansion” with two full stages, 5 bands, and an additional 3 hours of programming running from 2:00 - 8:00pm. The Concerts in the Plaza 30th Anniversary Festival featured programming both to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the concert season and to encourage tourists to spend their nights in San Luis Obispo over the 4th of July Holiday weekend. Representatives from the City of SLO and TBID were invited to speak across both the Plaza Stage and Block Party Stage, with Mayor Erica A.
