HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-03-2012 RED cash b23 January 2012 To: Mayor Jan Marx and City Council Members From: Deborah Cash, Executive Director SLO Downtown Association Re: Palm Nipomo Parking Structure Study Session The SLO Downtown Association Parking and Access Committee in December recommended to the SLO Downtown Association Board of Directors to move forward with the removal of the two buildings adjacent to the proposed Palm Nipomo Parking Structure as identified in the Council Agenda Report. The Board upheld this recommendation in order to (a) proceed with getting the structure built and (b) allow for the development of Downtown's cultural center as envisioned in the City's Conceptual Design for Downtown. While this project has quietly, but surely, moved along over the past few years, it has gained support and momentum of those who understand the importance of having the structure --and its adjoining facilities in place when large development projects come on line in Downtown and the cultural organizations have succeeded in their development efforts. These are important advances for Downtown and will place us in a position of behind ahead of the curve in this case. Your support of the project and moving forward with the recommendations of your staff and our Board. of Directors are much appreciated.
