Kim Ci.r_y 'council of San Luis Obispo County Government Center San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 -Re: City Council Meeting of May 7 , 1996 E Taxi Company Agenda i Gentlepersons: I I Om the owner of Yellow Cab of San Luis Obispo, the only taxi cab company currently licensed to operate in San Luis Objspo. I understand that you are to hold a meeting this evgning regarding whether you will license another taxi cab company to operate in San Luis Obispo. I slid not receive notice of this meeting until Thursday, May 2, :;1996 . I an sure you understand that this notice of less thin one week is not sufficient to allow me to prepare for thI meeting. Alow.ing another taxi cab company to operate in San Luis Obispo would seriously affect my ability to operate in this ci y, and will seriously affect the availability of taxi transportation to Citi2ens of this community. Therefore, I must be allowed sufficient time to prepare for the meeting and attend it with the ability to persuasively present my cafe.: Depriving me of proper notice and opportunity to prepare is depriving me of my due process rights to fair notice and opportunity to be heard. Therefore, I ask that you postpone the agenda regarding oponing San Luis Obispo to another taxi company until such time as is reasonable for me to prepare for it. Thirty days' time should be sufficient notice. Thank you for your cooperation. CUfyCIL ❑ CJ_L;R Sincerely, Id CAO ❑ FIN DIR !FjCAO ❑ E CHIEF `I 9 C9ATORNEY D I R CLER!ClOR!C' I POU CE CFI ti AneAony R. At that time, committee member Pierre Rademaker indicated the recommendation stated on the Council Agenda is contrary to the Downtown Concept Plan. Further, as the BIA was only t cccntly made aware of this development in its relationship to the Downtown, the committee seeks an extension of the matter until the entire board can addirss the staff recommendation at its 14 May meeting. We believe that not providing for a transit transfer center on the site is not in the best interest of the Downtown and Downtown employees for a variety of reasons. We request the item be postponed for discussion until after the BIA Board can fully address the matter. cc: Mayor and City Council members John Dunn OUNCIL d CDD DIR 6't.0. ❑ FIN DIR h IO ❑ FIRE CHIEF' I 9-4T`fQrPNFY ❑'C1 K"BRIG O`p-OUCE`CW ❑ MGWTEAM O• RECIDIR 1 C T Fl E ❑ UTIL DIR R0.Boz 1402•San Luis Obi.spv•CA-. 03406.80515a1.0286•Far 60,W81.2697•r-nuail:bia@slutsr.nrg, — 114!)1 COUNTY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO - bepamment of gcnepal suvlces COUNTY GOVERNMENT CENTER • SAN LUIS OBISPO,CALIFORNIA 93408 a (805) 781-5200 DUANE P. LEIB. DIRECTOR May 7, 1996 MEETING _ AGENDA DATE ' ITEM # Ron DeCarli San Luis Obispo Council of Governments 1150 Osos Street, Suite 202 San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 MULTI MODAL TRANSIT CENTER SITE Ron, I recently learned of the City's intention to establish a Multi Modal Center on Monterey Street in front of the Government Center. This is the first that I or my staff has heard about this idea. I cannot make a recommendation for.it or against it nor know how it will affect the County in its Government Center operation. I am concerned how a plan like this could progress so far without some explanation or conversation with the County. At one time I was part of a City committee that reviewed plans of this nature and was well informed on various ideas so I could offer advice from the County perspective. No invitations to committee meetings or otherwise have been communicated for a very long time, so the County is ignorant of new plans. Any information you could communicate to me concerning this latest proposal would be helpful. We would like to have input before the plan is set, but it appears that would be difficult at this time. I cannot attend the May 8th meeting of the COG but would appreciate discussion with you or George Rosenberger, Deputy General Services Director, in my absence, at your earliest convenience. Thank you for your consideration. DUANE P.
