SUBJECT: JUVENILE ACCOUNTABILITY BLOCK GRANT
CAO RECOMMENDATION
Approve resolution releasing funds to San Luis Obispo County for the Juvenile Accountability
Block Grant program.
DISCUSSION
In October 1998, the City approved $1,307 in matching funds in order to participate with the
County Probation Department, Paso Robles Police Department, Sheriff's Departme , the
courts in a State funded Juvenile Accountability Grant project. This grant h= been
tentatively approved and requires that the City Council release our City funds to the County for
the block grant program. This will provide tangible benefits to the community. For example,
proposed within this grant program would be a part-time coordinator for our rapidly growing
Juvenile Diversion program. This joining together of agencies will allow us to provide services
and accomplish goals not possible on our own.
FISCAL IMPACT
Expenditure of$1,307 in matching funds previously approved.
ALTERNATIVES
Decline to participate. This would probably mean the loss of$1,307 in matching funds.
