HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/21/2000, A1 - APPOINTMENT RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION council "m�`°�3-21-0 j agenda Report 'Ai CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO FROM: Council Members Jan Howell Marx and Kenartz/ Council Subcommittee to the Planning Commission l 1 Prepared By: Sherry Stendahl, Council Secretary SUBJECT: Appointment Recommendations to the Planning Commission RECOMMENDATION Make the following appointments: • Reappoint Allan Cooper to a four-year term to expire 3/31/04 • Appoint Jim Aiken and Orval Osborne to three year terms to expire 3/31/03 DISCUSSION Three terms will expire on the Planning Commission 3/31/00: David Jeffrey, Allan Cooper, and Charles Senn. Mr. Jeffrey does not wish to be reappointed. Mr. Senn is not eligible, having served the maximum eight years. Mr. Cooper does wish to be reappointed and is eligible. After interviewing several candidates, the Council Subcommittee is pleased to make the three appointment.recommendations as listed above. Mr. Osborne is a current member of the Mass Transportation Committee and is eligible for appointment to the Planning Commission according to the following provision of the Advisory Body Handbook. That policy states: As a general policy, an applicant shall not be appointed to serve on more than one advisory body except that a member may also serve on one technical or special-purpose committee at the same time. The Mass Transportation Committee falls under the technical or special-purpose category. The Planning Commission is classified as a permanent committee. Nominee applications are attached; all others are available for review in the City Clerk's Office.
