PET'ITTON
TO THE MAYOR AND COUNCIr OW THE ITY OF SAN LITIS ORlcpo
We, the undersigned, have for years been asking for a new Senior Center. Last year most of us
accepted a compromise plan that called for a "Community Center," but because of the
multi-million dollar cost, we were told that we would have to wait. We said "OK," if you
provide us with 12 to 16 parking spaces in the unused area behind our current CenterAM
ALSO see to the renovation of the Recreation Center on Mill and Santa Rosa for other senior
needs. This would include a kitchen for the congregate meals program, meeting rooms, both
large and small, and access to the existing on-site parking.
We are some of the 8,000 seniors living in San Luis Obispo, and we may not be able to attend
the "goal-setting workshop" at the City County Library on February 3rd. Were we to be there,
our questions would start with: Why did you reject the "on-site" parking plan for the Senior
Center presented by Councilman Romero? When will the renovation of the Recreation Center
be completed. Can we expect to see a "City Community Center" in the foreseeable future ? If
your answer is yes, then when will that be? If I am not at the session, it is not because "I'm not
interested." Ig assured: "I am interes edl
