We recognize the many benefits of acquiring this open space such as protection of a special area of coastal property, wilderness preservation and the enhancement of recreational opportunities for residents and tourists with the creation of hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails. It will enhance the unique quality of life enjoyed by local residents and provide a new destination for our region's tourism industry. Our Chamber values the preservation of our region's open space assets and in particular, the potential for this preserve to be managed locally under the stewardship of The Land Conservancy. We encourage local municipalities to invest in the creation of this preserve which will provide The Land Conservancy with funds that can be leveraged as they move closer towards achieving their overall fundraising goal. We believe that this is a unique opportunity to create an outstanding public open space preserve that will serve our entire County for generations to come.
