Also I want to express my concern for pedestrian and cyclist safety for the the senior citizens, college students, and families of my neighborhood. My main concern is safety for non - vehicular traffic on Ramona and La Entrada Drives. I would like to see at least crosswalks at all intersections on these streets. Each morning I walk my daughter to Bishop Peak Elementary School from 330 Ramona Dr. Crossing La Entrada, either at the intersection of Ramona or (especially) Foothill, can be difficult and sometimes dangerous. I am always worried about a pedestrian or bicyclist getting hit by a car. There is a tendency for cars to gather speed as there are no stop signs between Tassajara and La Entrada on Ramona Dr. and no stop signs on La Entrada, except at the intersection of Foothill. Also both Ramona and La Entrada Dr. are on hills. There seems to be a general unawareness of pedestrians by drivers. I often see cars make a quick stop after the stop sign as they are making a turn. This morning while using the the lighted crosswalk on Foothill at the intersection of Patricia Dr. a car turned into my pathway. I've seen this happen even when there is a cross walk attendant helping students cross. Neighbors and parents of Bishop Peak Elementary students have taken action to make pedestrian and bicycle routes to school safer. Bishop Peak Elementary School has a Walking School bus that helps students arrive safely to school while walking on Ramona and La Entrada drives. Also, the Ramona and La Entrada neighborhood has also submitted a Neighborhood Traffic Management Plan application and petition to Public Works Transportation Operations in an effort to address speeding and reckless driving and help create a safer and calmer neighborhood.
