Dear Councilman Ashbaugh and Councilman Carpenter:
I normally do not weigh in on voting results by the SLO Council, but assuming
that the Times article today is correct, I am very disappointed in both of you.
You were both elected to represent all of the community, and make decisions
based on facts as you see them. Your behaviors, as reported by the Times are troubling to me,
and clearly underscore a lack of professionalism. The bar for elected
officials' behavior is much higher than for the citizens you represent; regardless
of irritations or personal conflicts behind the scenes. Conflict is part of our policital process and
system,
but when your personal conflicts interfere with the utilmate success or failure of a community -
wide vote, then I have
to write to you as a SLO citizen and say: Knock it off, get intervention help, but do your job for
which you were elected.
Regards
Lee Bren
Citizen of SLO
