Before that I was present at every board meeting since its inception. I regret that I am unable to attend tonight's City Council meeting. In my absence I want to make sure that you are aware of my full support of the County's TMD. When this initiative was first announced there was the usual backlash including some concerns about the impact the additional imposed 1% would have on our lodging guests. As you may recall I spent some time looking at what that impact would look like for our city's lodging properties. After compiling the information on the assessments for other competing cities, I was able to determine that, even with including the proposed additional County TMD assessment, the total assessment imposed on our guests would still be below the average. I feel that this was an eye opener and makes the decision much more palatable. Besides the obvious overall push to promote our county as a viable tourist destination, by supporting this effort our TBID board will gain the funds we have allocated to supporting Visit San Luis Obispo County. The budgeted amount in the 2014 — 2015 fiscal year was $105,000. This can be used to better market and promote the treasures we offer guests here in the City of San Luis Obispo. Over all, supporting this effort gives us a better edge to compete with the other areas that have in the past, been able to out shine us by infusing considerable resources towards their marketing. Thank you for $u ns' eration, Dean R. H ton, General Manager Apple Farm Board Member City of San Luis Obispo Tourism Business Improvement District
