SLO CITY CLERK
Anyone who has served on the SLO City Council has taken a pledge to abide by the Charter of the City of San
Luis Obispo and the Constitution and laws of the State of California. John Ashbaugh has not only broken that
pledge but has broken trust with his fellow Councilmembers, as well as with the community at large. It was a
great disappointment to see that kind of behavior and such an unseemly outburst in a public forum. With his
recent Viewpoint John apologized for his lack of control, however, it remains up to you as our elected leaders
to determine what happens next.
I don't know how you will resolve this issue — but it needs both your strong consideration and resolution, if
you intend to be taken seriously as community leaders. You just can't wish some things away.
Sincerely,
Dodie Williams
