Regarding Agenda Item 132: DISCUSSION OF COUNCILMEMBER ASHBAUGH CLOSED SESSION
DISCLOSURE
I respectfully encourage you to take the following actions regarding this matter:
• Emphasize the importance of the Brown Act and council member's responsibilities under the Brown
Act.
• Emphasize council member's responsibility to speak thoughtfully and respectfully even when emotional.
• Graciously accept Council member Ashbaugh's apology.
• Bring official closure to this matter so that your Council can get on with the important business of our
city.
What is most important is that our City Council be a model of constructive civic discourse even in the face of
no agreement. The poison politics that has corrupted our national debates and is increasingly penetrating our
community must not be allowed to thrive.
Thank you all for your public service and unwavering commitment to the success of our community.
