Subject: Blight in my neighborhood
Re: Blighted property at 1179 San Carlos St., San Luis Obispo, CA
I live on Santa Clara Street which intersects San Carlos where the subject property is located. Although it is not
visible from my house I'm writing to protect my neighborhood and specifically to support Terry and Carol Mohan who
live across the street from 1179 San Carlos, before the City Council holds the closed -door session November 18th,
to discuss using the City's authority to clean up the property.
In earlier correspondence to City Council members, Terry Mohan summarized the four -plus years' history of this
troubled property. He also explained terms of a proposed agreement between the owner, Ryan Petetit, and City
officials that is vague and weak. If the Council approves this and if past performance is any proof, the property will
remain neglected and be an eyesore to our well- maintained neighborhood.
It seems Mr. Petetit is adept at pushing the limits of any negotiated agreements or threatened litigation with the City
and then getting continuances to stall yet more months, years.
I am asking you to pursue the civil complaint and abate the property with actual cost paid by Mr. Petetit.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Jane Shoemaker
