Jan Marx Mayor i Office of the City Council 990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 -3249 E jmarx @slocity.org T 805.781.7120 slocity org From: ginger goodell [gingergoodell @yahoo.com] Sent: Monday, December 01, 2014 8:59 AM To: Marx, Jan Subject: Please do not vote to override the ALUC i Dear Mayor Marx, I am deeply concerned about the city council's upcoming vote on whether or not to override the ALUC's recommendations. Please do not allow this to happen. Having lived in Costa Mesa and Huntington Beach from 1969 -1989, we know that residents will continually complain about the ever - increasing impact of the airport on their quality of life (yes, even the folks who buy in the neighborhood in the homes that will be built if you vote to override). We toured the Serra Meadows development this summer on a weekend. While there, a small plane took off, flying close enough to make a great deal of noise. If you vote to override, you are setting the city up for many noise complaints. And then there is the greater danger of a plane accident should you vote to override. We have lived near Islay Hill for ten years. We often get small planes flying low over our house, even though they are asked not to (we've seen the signs on the runway). We hear San Luis needs affordable housing. We'd love to see that, but it's not reality, just as it's not reality in San Francisco or Newport Beach (near where we used to live because we couldn't afford Newport). Our adult offspring (39 and 44) cannot afford to live here. That's life. People work and live where they can afford to work and live. We could not live here in our working days because the jobs we needed to support us were not here. We came back in our retirement. I urge you not to vote to override the ALUC.
