OFFICE OF TIME PRESIDENT
I am writing to express Cal Poly's support for a rental housing inspection program within the
City of San Luis Obispo. A rental housing inspection program would serve to address important
issues of safety, health and the wellbeing of members of our community.
Over this past summer, a group of interested community members and representatives from the
City of San Luis Obispo, along with Cal Poly staff and students, met as part of the Neighborhood
Collaboration Work Group. The objective was to achieve measurable goals to improve
neighborhood relations. The concept of a rental housing inspection program was raised during
these discussions as a strategy to maintain housing standards and enhance health and safety
issues for rental properties that are utilized by our faculty, staff and students.
The university has appreciated many years of engagement and partnership with City officials and
residents. A rental housing inspection program can further our shared goal of a healthy and safe
community. I look forward to working together on additional initiatives that can improve our
community.
Sincerely,
4Jerey D. Armstrong
