Resolution upholding appeals and denying
the ARC’s final design approval of a mixed-
use project with 9 residential units & 8,000
square feet of offices.
New first “Whereas” paragraph
WHEREAS, the Cultural Heritage Committee of the
City of San Luis Obispo conducted a public hearing in
Conference Room #1, 919 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo,
California, on November 25, 2013, for the review of
conceptual project plans and recommended denial of the
project to the Architectural Review Commission, based on a
finding that the project is inconsistent with the Historic
Preservation Program Guidelines because its massing,
materials, and architectural design are not compatible with
neighboring buildings in the Old Town Historic District; and

WHEREAS, the Cultural Heritage Committee of the

Council Hearing Room of City Hall, 990 Palm Street, San
Luis Obispo, California, on June 23, 2014, for the review of
revised project plans and recommended denial of the project
to the Architectural Review Commission, based on a finding
that the project is inconsistent with the Historic Preservation
Program Guidelines because its massing and architectural
design are not compatible with neighboring buildings in the
Old Town Historic District; and

SECTION 2. Action. The City Council hereby
upholds the appeals, and denies without prejudice the
Architectural Review Commission’s action without prejudice
to grant final design approval to the mixed-use project (ARC
96-13) with nine dwellings and 8,050 square feet of office
floor area, with the following conditions.:
