Funding Dear Members of the City Council of San Luis Obispo: As a local business person and supporter of public open space, I'd like to encourage you to vote "yes" on Item C6 on tomorrow's Council Agenda, allowing for funding of appraisals for conservation projects within the City's Greenbelt Protection Program. As you all know, for many years now, the City has demonstrated strong leadership in the conservation of open space in and around the City. These efforts have promoted property values and a vital economy, by protecting the character of and quality of life in San Luis Obispo County and by encouraging thousands of visitors each year to visit, stay, eat, and spend their tourism dollars. With the ever - growing population of California, more and more in the state will seek refuge from their busy lives — our beautiful Central Coast is a perfect destination, and our efforts to ensure its continued beauty and vitality is an investment in our robust economic future. I like the way Mayor Jan Marx put it, "Having nearby wilderness makes our community a sought -after destination for visitors and tourist, directly contributing to local businesses and jobs." As a conservation enthusiast, I'm more than pleased, too, about the multiple environmental benefits of protecting the Miossi Brothers /La Cuesta and Ahearn ranches. The proposed acquisitions will preserve the city's water resources, protect the wildlife habitat of our region, and give our residents a place to recreate and deepen their commitment to the conservation of the Central Coast. It's all good! Please support Item C6 and continue the City's proud and critically important conservation legacy_ Sincerely, Kara A. Woodruff
