Mayor Marx and City Council members,
I write in the hopes of catching you before you go into your meeting tomorrow and decide on how to allocate
our resources to make our city better. As my tennis friend Eddy Rodriquez said when he spoke at the meeting
there are lots of important things to consider. We spoke on behalf of lighting Sinsheimer tennis courts. It would
mean so much to the tennis community to make this much needed improvement.
One thing I failed to mention was that we realize that the courts are in a residential area and because of this
lots of kids and families have easy access to the courts. Not having to drive is a huge bonus. A concern is the
noise people playing will create, one way to deal with this is by tracking people who play with a key or app that
will operate the lights. This can help identify people who are too loud and manage that.
I was at the high school playing last night, on the first two courts only one set of lights were working and on the
far two courts none of the lights were working. All the lights at SLO HS are dated there so unless you belong to
SLO Country Club or Avila Bay Club lighted courts just aren't available nearby.
I hope our passion for tennis comes through. We speak for many working people and kids who would benefit
from lighted tennis courts at Sinsheimer park.
Thank you,
Scott Cleere
