HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-11-2015 B3 Event Subcommittee - Funding RecommendationsCommunity Promotions Events Subcommittee Meeting Minutes Conference Call February 3, 2015 – 8:30 am PRESENT: LeMieux, Patel, Walker, Rizzo STAFF PRESENT: Molly Cano, Tourism Manager BUSINESS ITEMS 1. 2014-15 EVENT PROMOTION APPLICANT PRESENTATIONS The committee discussed the funding requests presented by the following events during the January 28, 2015 meeting. • All Out Events: Dawn to Dusk request for $4800 Committee Recommendation: TBID: $0 / PCC: $0 The committee felt like it was a sellout event and was already self-sustaining and did not require the funding support to be successful. The event was also limited in the number of attendees and the committee did not see the potential for the event to grow in size or ROI. • SLO Wine: Roll Out The Barrels request for $18,000 Committee Recommendation: TBID: $9,000 / PCC: $9,000 Commissioner Rizzo abstained from discussion on the event recommendation. • Hospice SLO: Eroica request for $15,500 Committee Recommendation: TBID: $15,500 / PCC: $0 Sponsorship funding would be for the Saturday night dinner event in Paso Robles, representation at the vintage fair throughput the weekend, and the sponsorship of the rider bag. The committee would like to explore partnership with the Visitor Center for the representation of SLO at the vintage fair. • Festival Mozaic request for $20,000 Committee Recommendation: TBID: $2,500 / PCC: $9,150 The PCC would support the local event in Mission Plaza and the TBID would support the out of area concerts with minimal dollar support but also offered in- kind support to coordinate the destination information packets for the use at the out of area events. 2. 2015-16 APPLICATION TIMELINE The committee discussed the application timeframe for the 2015-16 funding consideration and directed staff to draft a timeline for consideration by the committee in February.
