Mayor Marx and City Council Members,
I am writing once again in support of San Luis Obispo neighborhoods and their wellness. I do not live in the San Luis
Drive neighborhood but feel that all of our neighborhoods need protecting. Our various commissions make their
determinations but it is ultimately up to the City Council to protect those residents who have elected them.
The Monterey Hotel has not adequately mitigated many of the issues associated with this project. The height of the
hotel is not compatible with the adjacent established neighborhood nor is it compatible with the existing hotels and
more importantly with the nearby Julia Morgan Monday Club.
In my Monterey Heights neighborhood, we have seen new projects use recently approved mini dorms as their
justification of what is compatible. Allowing these outliers to become precedent is very dangerous to the wellness of our
established neighborhoods.
Please protect the San Luis Drive Neighborhood by rejecting this outsized hotel and enforcing Size, Scale, Mass and
Compatibility.
Thank You,
Linda White
