Although back in December we had offered previously to hire a landscape architect to work on a plan to better screen the Travelodge and other adjacent properties at our cost, The Monday Club had not expressed a desire for us to press forward. So we didn't. However, we then received a request via email over the weekend so as a show of good faith, we hired a landscape architect to work on a proposal for consideration by the neighbors and City Council. 2) Due to liability, I don't believe that we could actually contract the work to be done on someone else's property. We are willing to employ a licensed landscape architect and finance the installation of said landscape screening with a charitable contribution to the Monday Club. We understand and agree that any landscaping work would actually need to be reviewed and approved by The Monday Club, and their organization would need to contract the work to get done. It isn't our intention to trespass on their property and begin installing landscape without permission. 3) The reason there is no mention of a landscape plan at The Monday Club in my January 23rd letter to Marcus Carloni, was because the request by the San Luis Drive neighbor was made after the February 13th meeting we held at The Monday Club. 4) The conceptual landscape plan was not designed by our architect George Garcia, but rather by David Foote and Jim Burrows of Firma Landscape Consultants. We engaged them over the weekend prior to the City Council hearing to develop a conceptual screening & planting plan to present to City Council, and I am confident that if given more time, direction and interaction with the Monday Club, we could come up with a plan that would be satisfactory to The Monday Club. 5) If so directed, we are more than happy to work within the parameters of The Monday Clubs selection of plantings and their desired time frame for installation. 6) However, if The Monday Club decides that it does not want us to participate in SLD neighborhood and Council's direction regarding suggested landscape screening, we will respect that decision.
