Dear Mayor & City Council Members: I am forwarding this letter to you rather than take up your time Tuesday
night reading from the podium. Our Alta Vista Neighbors are fed up with what we have to endure most Thurs.,
Fri. & Sat. evenings. Please don't turn your backs on us again. Come up with a plan to curtail this type of
activity. karen adler - chairperson of AVNA

Hi Karen,
Can you read something for me at the meeting since I will not be back in SLO until the 19th?
Dear Council Members;
My name is Kristin Johnson - Raburn. My family has lived in the Cal Poly area at 176 Kentucky St. since
1957, when I was six years old. I have witnessed first hand the caliber of students attending Cal Poly go from
high to low. The caliber of students who now attend Cal Poly has drastically dropped from those who really
were the brightest of the bright, who were seeking a solid education, down to those who have heard that Cal
Poly is the best of the "party schools ", and if you learn something along the way - great.
I was out of town this past weekend, but didn't miss SLO and a thousand or more Cal Poly students making
the NATIONAL NEWS (Good Morning America - Sunday morning), or seeing a video of the misbehaving
students coming out of the United Kingdom, and even a video of the drunken students falling through the
garage roof at 364 Hathaway on YouTube. Surely this isn't the type of publicity the residents of SLO are
seeking, nor our City Council, and god forbid the President of Cal Poly!
There was another incident that happened in our neighborhood this past Sept. 20th, 2014 - (the 2nd
anniversary of my Father's death) at the end of WOW Week, when someone at 1:15 AM placed two shots right
through the master bedroom window and into the easy chair where my Father sat every night reading. That
night my cousin was sitting in that chair reading, but thankfully had gotten up to go into the den to watch TV
for a bit. - The window repairman said that he had been on four other calls within the last three weeks just like
mine (all within the Hathaway - Fredrick - Kentucky) areas. The police suspected drunken students.
As an AVNA resident, I am seeking help from the Police Dept., the City Council and the President of Cal
Poly to make our neighborhood a safer place to live! San Luis Obispo doesn't deserve to have this negative
publicity! The City Council and Cal Poly need to take stronger measures to insure the students who are
participating in these "wild parties" pay the consequences for this actions. The Police Dept. waited way to long
to show up to this last party - and disperse the students. They chase them away and the students come back.
PLEASE HELP US.
Respectfully Submitted,
Kristin Johnson -Raburn
