Subject: St Fratty's Day
was appalled when I heard and saw the events of early Saturday morning.
It was even more disturbing to see the story and our city splashed on ABC,
NBC and CNN. We did not look like a "Happy City"
To our Mayor, I saw the quick response in the Tribune and support the need
for more legislation to protect the citizens, property and neighborhoods.
I strongly support the following actions by the University and City.
1. Fraternities should be banned by the University. There is too much in
the news about fraternities , drinking, noise, racial slurs etc.
2. The students directly involved should be dismissed from the University.
There are too many others that would be happy to come to Cal Poly.
3. All students that the police or /and university have names that were
involved in the party and damage, MUST DO
200 HRS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE IN SAN LUIS OBISPO. Maybe
then the students will realize that they have responsibilities to our community
and that the taxpayer ends up paying for police and damage.
4. The University must hire more University Police to be around the outer
perimeters of the campus. They have the money. This will free up
some of the city police force for other neighborhoods not so close to
the campus and for other needs by the people of this city.
I hope that this will be on an agenda ASAP and that the city council will
make some of these suggestions to the University. I know that you have
an on -going working group with the University.
Thank You
Judy Jones
