I have been involved in City matters since first arriving here. Community service has been important to me everywhere I've lived. i I 2. Why do you want to be a member of the Personnel Board and what do you hope to accomplish? Though the Personnel Board is not active on a regular basis, when g important personnel issues such as grievances or disciplinary actions arise, the board reviews them and presents I findings to the Council to aid in their resolution. I would hope to provide the Council j with sufficient information to make an informed and just decision. I I I 3. Have you ever attended a meeting of a City advisory body? What observations did you make? I have attended meetings of every advisory body currently in the City of San Luis Obispo. It would be difficult to distill in this space the observations of more than a decade of listening. What qualities,experience and expertise make you a good candidate for the Personnel Board? Past experience in personnel matters has been as a business owner; manager of a branch bank; Downtown Association Administrator; and on the City Council. Chaired the Council sub-committee in information gathering, review, and the decision to remove the City CIerk from her position in 1994. Chaired the recent YES on T ballot measure regarding binding arbitration. 5. In your view,what might be some key personnel=related issues in SLO? The City's Human Resources Dept. has had successful negotiations with most employee groups. I am unaware of any current personnel-related issues, with the possible exception of binding arbitration. 6. Is there any additional information about yourself you'd like to share? (Please feel free to attach a resume,if you have one). i I have a reputation for being thorough in reviewing issues and.fair in the decision making process. If appointed to the Personnel Board, these attributes will serve the City well. My resume is dated and, therefore, not included. Should one be needed, I will provide it.
