y do I want to serve on a City Advisory Body?
I Nould like to volunteer my time and energy working on an advisory:body for the City
o San Luis Obispo. l am a firm believer in the philosophy of commun.4 service.
I eel strongly about contributing and giving back to the community that I"live and work
I value the quality of life this community has to offer and would to work on an
a visory body that is responsible for shaping and impacting the future of the City of San
is Obispo.
by do I want to be a member of the ARC and what do I hope to:iccomplish?
I like to be a member of the ARC so that I can be a facilitator M' ::creating a
R ccessful fixture vision for the City of San Luis Obispo. I would ]rice.to be an ARC
mmissioner for personal reasons. I'm looking for ways to contribute my skills and
st vngths in an area that will make a difference. I have over I I years of professional
PI experience working for both public and private sector planning.agencies, and
have learned many valuable lessons that could be beneficial to the ARS.
I good at conflict resolution and am successful at bringing diverse opinions together
to formulate a consensus. These are useful skills to have when deali4with the general
pt blit. As an ARC Commissioner I hope to facilitate in the process of.:bringing slow
gr wth, no growth and pro growth groups together in an effort to estibbih, common
gr and and to open up a dialogue between.opposing interest groups. I£.stir successful in
m efforts then many residents who live within the community can feel:that their
or inions have been heard by the advisory body that represents them.
IE ve I ever attended a meeting of the ARC or another advisory body?:What
o servation did I make?
I 1ave attended several ARC meetings. I found them to be lively and thought provoking. I
have observed that when residents of the community show up to ARC greetings and raise
issues of concern, their concerns are generally addressed in a reasonable and fair manner.
