With coastal vistas, mountainous terrain, and
a state university,San Luis Obispo County attracts San
Luis
Obispo
young families, students, and tourists - and all
these groups have contributed to the demand for
child care in one way or another.As development County
grows to accommodate the influx of families,so
does demand for care, especially infant care.
Although the number of infant slots in centers
increased by 40 percent from 1998 to 2000,there
is still not enough supply to meet demand,
especially in the central part of the county. The child care subsidy offers a lot of hope for me.
Jobs in the tourism industry help keep It allows me to work, and I love my job. I feel that
unemployment low,but much of the work required I'm being productive and not being totally taken
at hotels,restaurants,and recreational sites requires care of by the state."
