The fourth and final phase would be the replacement of street name signs in the residential neighborhoods would be done over the course of two years to complete the overall replacement project. For the Council's benefit, Arterial streets are the busiest streets in the City, and they provide for circulation between major activity centers. Collector streets are the next tier of streets, carrying between 3,000 and 5,000 cars per day and their purpose is to provide the different areas of the City access to the arterial network. Local streets are the majority of our street network, typically found in our residential neighborhoods. This project, the third phase of the overall project, is to install 200 mm reflective pole mounted street name signs on all arterial and all those streets that intersect with them. The signs will be installed on opposing comers in the direction of vehicular travel. This project encompasses the removal of all existing pole mounted signs at these intersections and the installation of 230 new poles and 478 new signs.
