SUBJECT: NEW BISHOP WATER TANK, SPECIFICATION NO. 90232A
CAO RECOMMENDATION:
1. Authorize staff to advertise for proposals from design consultants.
2. Authorize the CAO to award the design services contract if the selected proposal cost is
within the estimated fee of$160,000.
DISCUSSION
The existing Bishop water storage tank has been identified in the Water System Master Plan as a
system deficiency. The Water System Master Plan recommends upgrading the existing 90,000
gallon water storage tank to 750,000 gallon. Increasing the storage capacity at this site will
provide increased fire protection and enhanced operational reliability and flexibility.
The purpose of the RFP is to obtain the services of a qualified consultant to prepare plans and
specifications, obtain additional easement area, prepare environmental documents and to obtain
all necessary permits required to construct a new 750,000 gallon water storage tank and remove
the existing 90,000 gallon tank.
CONCURRENCES
The Utilities Department concurs with the CAO's recommendations.
