RE: Downtown Association Board of Directors meeting
It took an extra half hour for this gregarious group to make it through their agenda, but
they did. There was a definite sigh of relief that the Century Project had come to an end
and much discussion centered on the upcoming holidays and the annual holiday parade.
The kiosk project is now through the City approval process and the three units should be
making their appearances after the start of the new year. It was reported that the Mardi
Gras parade is set for February 22°d
Some interest was expressed about the potential for housing in the downtown as is being
discussed by the Planning Commission and Housing Task Force, but no specific
recommendations nor endorsements were forthcoming. A dozen banners are slated to be
installed on Monterey Street between Santa Rosa and the Mission—I presume this will
occur in the Spring.
The last item of note was the Executive Committee's recommendation of Brad Bilsten
(The Gold Concept) as candidate for next year's presidency; Brad appeared willing to
assume the office if elected. He currently chairs the parking committee.
