CITY O F SAN LUIS O B I S P O FROM: Bill Statler, Director of Finance and Information Technology Prepared By: Beverly Galloway, Accounting Assistant SUBJECT: SURPLUS CITY PROPERTY CAO RECOMMENDATION Adopt a resolution declaring equipment as surplus property. DISCUSSION Section 906 of the City Charter requires that the City Council approve the sale or disposal of surplus property with an estimated value greater than $100. The following items are recommended for surplus by the Departments of Public Works and Parks &Recreation. Public Works Department 1. One Western Manufacturing Lathe. It is no longer being used at the Corporation Yard. The lathe has an estimated value of$500. 2. 1986 Ford 4x4 Ranger. This vehicle is no longer needed by Parks & Recreation. A replacement vehicle was purchased. At this time, due to age and wear, the vehicle is estimated at$500. Parks & Recreation Department Parks and Recreation has identified two pool tables at the Ludwick Community Center as surplus: one seven foot Olhausen table and one seven foot Murray table. SLO Billiards estimated the value of the Olhausen at $200 and the Murray at $100. These two tables are not needed by the department. The department is in need of removing these tables so that they can better utilize the space for the other Recreation programs. The disposal method will be in accordance with the City's surplus property policy as determined by the Director of Finance and Information Technology to be in the best interest of the City. CONCURRENCES The Departments of Public Works and Recreation concur with this recommendation. FISCAL IMPACT It is anticipated that the City will receive$1,300 in proceeds from the disposal of the equipment. (2004.Series) A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO DECLAIRING EQUIPMENT AS SURPLUS PROPERTY WHEREAS, the City Charter requires that the Council approve the sale or disposal of surplus property with an estimated value greater than $100; and WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works and Parks & Recreation have identified equipment no longer needed by the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo as follows: SECTION 1. The following items are no longer need by the City and are surplus property: 1. Western Manufacturing Lathe. 2. 1986 Ford 44 Ranger pickup truck. 3. Seven-foot Olhausen pool table 4. Seven-foot Murray pool table SECTION 2. Disposal of the property shall be made by sale at public auction or by another method of disposal in accordance with the City's surplus property policy as determined by the Director of Finance and Information Technology to be in the best interest of the City.
