SUBJEPPOINTMENT OF NEW SLO DOWNTOWN ASSOCIATION BOARD OF
DIRECTORS MEMBER
CAO RECOMMENDATION
By motion, appoint Tunny Ortali to the SLO Downtown Association Board of Directors.
DISCUSSION
In August, 2004, Board member Michael White submitted his resignation as a member of the
SLO Downtown Association Board of Directors due to no longer being a business owner in the
Downtown. As permitted by the Association's by-laws, the seat may be filled by appointment
by the President of the Board and approval of the appointment by the entire Board. Tunny
Ortali, owner of F. McLintock's Saloon, was appointed and approved in September, 2004 to
complete the remaining term vacated by Michael White which expires on March 30, 2005.
Mr. Ortali, CEO of F. McLintock's Restaurants, has owned F. McLintocks in Downtown SLO
along with several other businesses in SLO County for more than 30 years. He has served on the
Downtown Association Board of Directors and is currently the chair of the Thursday Night
Promotions Committee. He has participated in Farmers Market for more than 20 years. He was
featured on the cover of the SLO County Journal in April 2004 along with his partner; as owners
of F. McLintock's, the two partners have donated tremendously to the community.

Mardi Gras Update: Deborah Linden, Ken Hamp'
Main goal: our support, going to Council on Se 1, agenda report available tomorrow,
Some specific ideas to Downtown: starting t ontact DT businesses, esp. bar owners to
get help and cooperation to NOT do any motions for MG '05, strategy is to shut MG
down, stop attractions, discourage pe a from coming from out of town, don't want to
attract people coming for entire w end, some bars have agreed already, continuing
outreach; wants DA to help w' messaging: MG in SLO is over, don't invite friends to
come here
Have visited other mmunities: Newport Beach has an enhanced zone where fines are
increased; are 1 ng at having two separate zones in SLO during MG only, Foothill
area and DT cohol, noise, public urination violations (focusing on). (This will be in
staff repo or Council meeting).
