DISCUSSION Section 906 of the City Charter requires that the City Council approve the sale or disposal of surplus property with an estimated value greater than $100. The following items are recommended for surplus by the Department of Public Works. Public Works Department Last year the Swim Center replaced the sanitizer system and is now in possession of some ozone production equipment that they no longer need. Ozone is a powerful sanitizer that is being phased out in the pool industry on the West coast as it is very costly. There are, however, some facilities that are still using it. The Swim Center checked with the Utilities Department because .they are the only other City department that deals in ozone but the pool equipment is too small to be of practical use to them. The following equipment is available for surplus. 1. One Seaquall Team Work with 6 compressors and 6 ATFs, 220 volts on a single mounting platform. 2. One CWT 12 cell, 220 volt ozone generator. 3. Two 2 HP, 220/480, 3 ph, Whisper Flow booster pumps. 4. Two 8 ft tall contact chambers. 5. Two "J" shaped vacuum breakers. 6. Miscellaneous parts: 4 complete cells, 4 glass tubes, 2 aluminum cell housings, 6 brushes, 1 circuit board, 1 Whisper Flow pump housing with seal and impellor. The disposal method will be in accordance with the City's surplus property policy as determined by the Director of Finance &Information Technology to be in the best interest of the City. CONCURRENCES The Department of Public Works concurs with this recommendation. Surplus City Property Page 2 FISCAL IMPACT It is anticipated that the City will receive between $200 and $1000 in proceeds from the disposal of the equipment.
