Reappoint Robert Vessely to serve a four-year term beginning April 1, 2005 and expiring March 31, 2009. 2. Appoint Rebecca Jansen .to serve a four-year term beginning April 1, 2005 and expiring March 31, 2009. 3. Appoint James Adrian Adams to serve a four-year term beginning April 1, 2005 and expiring March 31, 2009. DISCUSSION There are four vacancies on the Construction Board of Appeals, one of which is reserved for a disabled representative. The Council Subcommittee for the Construction Board of Appeals interviewed six applicants on February 16, 2005 and recommended reappointing Robert Vessely to a four-year term, and appointing Rebecca Jansen and James Adrian Adams for four-year terms. Why do you want to be a member of the Board of Appeals? I believe that it is important for citizens to participate in government processes. 2. What do you hope to accomplish? The Board of Appeals is a valuable resource for the public.I intend only to help make it available when needed. 3. Have you ever attended a meeting of the Board of Appeals or another City advisory body? If so, what observations did you make? I have attended meetings of the ARC,CHC and Planning Commission and I found that the process can run smoothly in an atmosphere of professionalism and respect. I have a bachelor degree in architecture and a master degree in engineering.I have practiced in the building industry since 1978 and have worked with many other design professionals and development review staff members. 5. In your view, what are some key building issues in SLO? Quality of construction is an important issue but is outside the purview of the Board of Appeals.I see making the Building Code work for the public in real-world situations as a key issue.We have a character to the City that is important to maintain. 6.
