Dear Members of the Council, La ' As the Commuter Services Coordinator for the Cal Poly campus I would Pike to thank you for taking another look at the intersection of Santa Barbara St. and Upham St. to better accommodate bicyclists. The intersection is an integral part of a viable network of bicycle lanes and pathways in the city and deserves special attention. The safety of literally thousands of student bicycle riders, as well as the many staff members that are avid bicyde riders, is of great concern to me. This would improve the safety of their commute to and from campus. I would also like to urge that the Bill Roalman Bicycle Blvd. be completed.A finished Bicycle Blvd. would create a safer connection for bicydist between downtown and points of connection along existing and future segments of the Railroad Safety Trail. Bicycling is an important mode of transportation and should be considered in any project under consideration.Thank you for your leadership, not only for the bicycle community but also for being a strong advocate for healthy living, physical activity, and public.safety.
