SUBJECT: ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE NO. 1473 ADDING SECTION 8.14.085
TO THE MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING VIOLATIONS OF
TOBACCO RETAILER LICENSES.
CAO RECOMMENDATION
Adopt Ordinance No. 1473.
DISCUSSION
On June 21, 2005 the Council voted unanimously to introduce Ordinance No. 1473 without
changes. The Ordinance amends the San Luis Obispo Municipal Code to add Section 8.14.085,
which provides that compliance with all local, state and federal tobacco-related laws shall be a
condition of a tobacco retailer license and that it shall be a violation of a City tobacco retailer
license for a licensee or his or her agents or employees to violate any local, state or federal
tobacco-related law. Ordinance No. 1473 is now ready for adoption and will become effective
thirty days after the date of its final passage.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO
AMENDING THE SAN LUIS OBISPO MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING
VIOLATIONS OF TOBACCO RETAILER LICENSES.
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo conducted a public hearing in
the Council Chamber of City Hall, 990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo, California, on June 21,
2005, for the purpose of considering changes proposed to the Municipal Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of San Luis
Obispo as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 8.14 of the San Luis Obispo Municipal Code is hereby amended to add
Section 8.14.085 as follows:
8.14.085 Noncompliance with tobacco Related laws—License violation.
Compliance with all local, state and federal tobacco-related laws shall be a condition of a
city tobacco retailer license and it shall be a violation of a license for a licensee or his or her
agents or employees to violate any local, state or federal tobacco-related law.
