The Environmental Center of San Luis Obispo asks that you renew our contract in the amount
of$45,000 to provide the following enhancements to the services we currently provide to the
City of San Luis Obispo:
• Publish SLO Stewards quarterly instead of three times annually as under the current
contract (each publication costs approximately $2,500)
• Publish a wildflower guide for the City in cooperation with your Natural Resources
staff.
• Reestablish the City of SLO Green Business Awards in recognition of commitment to
environmental resource conservation.
• Revive the tree-planting program with donated trees and volunteers. ECOSLO could
provide logistical support and seek funding for the purchase of the trees.
• Publish a guide to City open space lands with information on trails, history, geology,
vegetation and wildlife.
• Organize Community Service Workers to perform trail maintenance, clean up parks,
and plant trees.
• Increase the number of hikes and stewardship work on City open space lands.
*printed on 100%recycled,post-consumer paper
• Continue our role as an environmental information center for the community,
including the dissemination of information on environmental issues, and provision of
City information educational information.
We will be able to leverage City funds to buy trees, increase stewardship activities, and
provide new published resources for City residents and visitors. We look forward to
continuing our collaboration with the City of San Luis Obispo to provide these important
services for the coming budget cycle.
Sincerely,
Morgan Rafferty
Executive Director
