Dean Hutton for a term beginning September 1, 2009, and expiring March 31,2014. 2. Susan Norris for a term beginning September 1, 2009,and expiring March 31, 2012. DISCUSSION On July 21, 2009, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 1531 amending Ordinance 1517 to increase the number of members serving on the San Luis Obispo City Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID) Board from five members to seven members. All applicants and members of the TBID Board must either be operators of hotels within the district or employed by the operator of such a hotel. On July 8, 2009, staff posted the vacancies as required by law, inviting applications to apply to the TBID Board. The deadline for submitting an application was 5:00 p.m. on July 31, 2009. Staff received three applications. Interviews were conducted on August 26, 2009. Council Subcommittee Member Carter and Mayor Romero, who participated in the interviews in place of Vice Mayor Settle, interviewed the following three applicants: Dean Hutton, Apple Farm; Susan Norris, Sands Inn and Suites; and Gary Tanner, Madonna Inn. The Council Liaison Subcommittee recommended appointment of the two members for the staggered terms indicated above. Although the terms are staggered, each Board member may serve up to eight subsequent years. Board members will be required to follow the Council's guidelines for reappointment to future terms. Because of this increase, there are two scheduled vacancies on the TBID Board. The City Council Subcommittee for the TBID will be interviewing applicants on Wednesday, August 26, 2009. Because the interview process for the TBID has not yet been completed, the agenda report with the Council Subcommittees' recommendations for appointments to this Board will be distributed as a red file item by August 26th.
