Their primary concern seems to be making money. Many of their decisions benefit the association and ultimately the merchants, not the citizens. This continued attempt to throw the Farmers Association out of the Farmers Market is another example of their self-interest. Please do not let them continue in this path and throw out the Farmers Association. I can't make the meeting today because i am busy saving my cherry crop. But I want it known that I think the farmers should run the farmers market like they always have, and have done a fine and fair job of it. i dont think theDA really knows the rules and regulations , the ins and outs and the ups and downs that pertain to the farmer section of the market. With no hard feelings or anything towards the DA, they should run the swap meet section and leave the farming to us. I am wondering what the big deal is about the DA running it all of a sudden after all these years . Just let the DA run their part ,and the farmers run their part and leave it at that. I am sure we have all made a mistake or two in our lives but that doesnt mean that someone else is going to take our lives over to change it and make it different Farming is my life and I dont want changes in the market. The farmersmarket association need the income of that market to survive and we all know how hards that can be. I could go on and on but to the point LET THE FARMERS RUN THE FARMERS MARKET Do we have to get on our knees and beg for you people to see our side of this situation. Q'HR DIR Subject: Farmers Market Decisions — NW 770765 G'otct L Auto forwarded by a Rule 416t?- Dear 162Dear City Council Members, I wanted to voice my opinion on the Farmers Market Decision. I feel that it is very important that we support local farmers. I have lived in San Luis Obispo my entire life and I go to Farmers Market very often. It has saddened me to see the decline in farmers that grow locally. It seems that they should be the first ones given the option to sell their produce at a local market. I have even visited and talked with local farmers who don't feel that they were welcomed enough at the San Luis Obispo Market by the SLO Farmers association/committee(although from what i understand it is mostly one or two people) and that they felt they were trying to impede their ability to sell even though they were SLO FARMERS! I am in support of the downtown association which will be more willing to allow people to apply and will give priority to the local farmers while still allowing everyone to be on a waiting list. It is the only way to ensure that the farmers market I grew up with and love will continue to function. I am a SLO grown boy and I feel very close to this town and many of its aspects and I hope you feel the same way. Sincerely, Daniel Pfau RED FILE MEETING AGENDA DAT S o ITEM #_
